2012 New Era Pinstripe Bowl from Yankee Stadium, The Bronx, New York

The West Virginia Mountaineers are playing the Syracuse Orange in Yankee Stadium in New York City. for the annual New Era Pinstripe Bowl, the 3rd addition. The Big East is 2 and 0 over the Big XII, WVU failed to score on the first drive, they missed a 36 yard field goal, in the past, Syracuse defeated Kansas State, and Syracuse defeat Iowa State in the first 2 Pinstripe Bowls. Syracuse will try a field goal and it is good and they lead 3 to 0. Can WVU come back? Tavon Austin gained yardage so far in the game, Austin bust one up midfield, Andrew Buie gets his yardage, The Syracuse Orange are wearing a #44 on their jerseys to honor a great player at Syracuse, Floyd Little.
The weather at the 2012 New Era Pinstripe Bowl could have been a big factor in the game. Spectators were greeted with snow and wind at Yankee Stadium on the 29th. The running game of the orange hurt the Moutaineer defense throughout the game. Syracuse scored a safety when WVU recovered the ball in the end zone. With a score of 5 to 0, Tyson Gulley scored a touchdown over the fatigued defense. WVU scored a td when Geno Smith hit Stedman Bailey. WVU recovered a fumble at the 50 when Terrance Garvin stripped it away from the running back. At the half, Syracuse lead West Virginia, 12 to 7.
In the 3rd quarter, Syracuse received the kickoff from WVU. The orange started at the 20 yard line. Chris Fowler, Jesse Palmer and Tom Rinaldi called the action for ESPN. The orange scored on a pass play from Nassib to Wales, bringing the score up 19 to 7. Ryan Nassib is a senior at Syracuse.
