Notre Dame was driving for a score deep in Tide territory and it was first and goal for the Irish on the 5 yard line. Golson to Riddick for a Notre Dame touchdown. With the extra point it is now Alabama 42, Notre Dame 14. With 7:51 remaining in the game, Bama was upset over the officiating of the game. The Tide was forced to punt to the Irish, so the Irish started at the 37 yard line. Golson was sacked at the 25 and did not convert on a 3rd and 17. The Tide offensive line averaged more than 300 lbs. a man. Eddie Lacy was the MVP of the game. The Tide took out the starters on offense and sent in the second team to run the offense. Saban got the Gatorade bath for winning a third straight national championship. The final score was Alabama Crimson Tide 42, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 14.
