About the Elkins Depot Welcome Center: Built in 1908, this Western Maryland Railway depot was the center of life in Elkins, like most railroad towns of the time. It was where citizens gathered to hear the latest news, welcome and bid farewell to loved ones, and depart for distant journeys. The depot has that life once again, thanks to visitors near and far who visit our wonderful town.
