Golf, a popular hobby during the summer months, offers people an enjoyable romp through nature at the various courses scattered through central West Virginia. Whether you want the challenge of a championship course or just a leisurely walk that can produce a confidence-building score, those opportunities exist in the area.

• Elks Country Club: This nine-hole course located south of Elkins, just off U.S. 250 on
Country Club Road, offers a challenge to golfers of all levels.
For the accomplished golfer, it can challenge shot—making skills. For the weekend hacker, it can be a great place to hone the needed skills for improvement.
