Have a ‘Tube’ular Time Riding Down the River
June 27, 2008
Tubing down the Cheat River is one way to spend a hot summer day in the mountains. The river can take tubers all the way to Parsons, but most opt to stop at the bridge beside the Cheat River Inn, according to business owners who rent the tubes.
It can take from two to four hours, depending on how high the water is, to make it from Revelle’s to the bridge, according to Revelle’s owner Brenda Barrows.
Barrows recently purchased new tubes, which are 44 inch, re-enforced Butyl Rubber Tubes covered in polyester canvas and have seat-belt webbing handles. The tubes also have small holes in the bottom of the seating area for the river water to drain. Some of the tubes can hold a cooler, Barrows said.
“They’re really neat,” Barrows said. » Full Story
