Use the Merit Pay system. No improvement, no raise, but the teachers balk at it every time someone brings it up. They are not looking for fair treatment, they want preferential treatment. Blanket raises have never been fair because you pay the bums the same as the teachers who work hard.

The priorities are wrong. The students had nothing to fear when they take the Westest. They are no consequences. So why should they try their best. And you want to base Merit Pay on a system like that. If a group of students don't like a teacher then they can do poorly on the test and cost that teacher money. Just think about what you are proposing.

I hear people all of the time bash teacher's They are the same people who have out of control kids that they send off to school for someone else like the teachers to deal with, As in the Sandy Hook incident proved teachers deal with alot and are so under appreciated. Thank You to all of the good teachers out there in helping to raise our children!!!

Oh, there's consequences alright. Maybe not when they are in school, but when these kids get out of school and try to get a job, they'll spend their lives flipping hamburgers at McDonalds. As for students setting up a teacher, that can be avoided also. Teachers know who the troublemakers are and they try something like that, it would be obvious to the staff. Personally, I have a problem wasting time and money on students that don't try. Kick them out of school and let another student who wants to learn take their place, and when the ones who didn't finally figure out they only hurt themselves, they can be content being stuck in a dead end, low paying job because that's all they are qualified to do. It's not difficult to spot the slackers and troublemakers in our schools. Get them out of the system and the rest of the students benefit. They're only a distraction anyway.
