If Barbour county has a Park & Recreation Dept., then maybe they could take over these programs. If they don't, then one should be created. They could develop a coaching class so qualified parents can do this. Based on the same principal that the BOE uses with background checks and fingerprinting and parents raise money to help out with travel and such. I'm sure the school system would let the Parks & Rec. use their facilities at no cost. This would get more parents involved and possibly more businesses also. And if the BOE gets back into having money to spend, possibly some things could be shared. Sports are good for the kids, but other avenues need to be explored and could be possibly the right avenue.

Is most of the people in this county, democrats? Because I've found that the only ones that apparently don't understand that states, counties and our nation is BROKE are these radicals. What part of 'in the RED' don't you people get? You want sports? FUND IT yourselves. There's MORE important things to do with the little money available. MORE focus on 'learning' and less on play and stupid subjects in our govt run schools would start producing more 'competent' adults. The dumbing down of our children is quite apparent as you look around today. No intelligent leadership anywhere. This has gone on for quite some time as we can all see by the results today. They can get together after school hours with their families and have your own ball games. Don't need it at school! Learn to read, write and speak so others can understand what the heck your trying to say. Learn math, science and learn your history. THOSE are the things SCHOOLS are supposed to be about---not playing.
