This is not news. Move along. Seriously Intermountain, since there is a new drug sniffing dog in the area schools, there will be many incidents such as this. If you insist on publishing a short article on every one of them, you will eventually run the risk of infringing on the privacy of minors. This is not a danger to the public, and it should not be made into a public interest story. Let young people make their mistakes (like we all did) in private so they can learn from them without lasting damage.

I don't think it's a bad idea as long as the names are not published. This is the only way parents will know what is going on at the school. I've talked to my kids about drugs, but if they're being found at the school they attend, I want to know about it. I don't consider having "weed & a pipe" at a public school a "mistake". They should know better. If they get caught by their parent with it...then it's a "private" affair. Not when it's on school grounds. There are always people in the newspaper who are in court for having drugs near a school or playground...so it's time these kids learn now that it's not acceptable. Just my opinion...

I think it is just terrible that the intermou tain would publish this for everybody to see. I'm sure these girls are already so embarrassed. An artical about it in the paper doesn't help any. Also, the intermountain is not writing true statement. I know first hand that the girls did not get taken to the hospital to get drug tested. I do not think that there names should be mentioned.
If I knew who these kids are I could keep mine away from them. Publish there names. They have no right too anonmity if they break the law.

leonardo...NO names were mentioned in the paper...and these kids SHOULD be embarassed & punished for having drugs on a school campus. If I had drugs on the school campus, I would have my name in the newspaper & I'd be prosecuted. What makes them any different? If they get away with it as minors...they'll just think it's ok as adults.
MeMyselfandI: I'm well aware no names were mentioned in the paper. They shouldn't be mentioned. And yeah of course u would be prosecuted if u had drugs on school property because u are an adult and adults shouldn't be stupid enough to being drugs on school grounds. But children make MISTAKES ok, and this was just a MISTAKE and the girls r going to learn from it so take a reality check and stop judging people. Heck, I'm sure if it was your daughters you wouldn't want ttheir names mention either. Think about what it'd be like to be the mom in this position and even the girls.THINK
