Cub Scouts Pack 106 is preparing to plant 70 new trees in public areas of Buckhannon, including the City Park....

Why not plant trees everyone can enjoy, while helping to improve the health of the people within the community? For once, let's forget about planting maples, pines and oak trees, and let the scouts plant fruit trees. Seventy trees can produce a lot of fruit that would be accessable to all who use the public areas, while helping to feed the wildlife. I'm sure a lot of seniors would be grateful for the opportunity to have fresh fruit without paying the ridiculous prices it brings in the grocery stores. Locally grown fruit not only taste better than cold storage fruit, it retains the natural nutrients lost during cold storage and early harvesting.
