Sorry, but instead of applause, this poster gives the Van Broughton and City Counicl BOOS for even considering "buying" the armory! However, if history repeats itself as it did when the Rails to Trails Program began and a grant was provided to by the right-of-ways from the RR. Oh, but it gets better. Then, another grant was secured to add accroutements and pave the entire lengths. All at taxpayer expense! But, it gets even better, at the turn of the 20th century, the gov't financed purchasing the original rights-of-way for the RRs--again, with taxpayers picking up the tab! This is just one example of how a massive boondoogle was perpatrated on the taxpayer--not once but three times! Stay tuned folks, the same act will probably playout with the armory. The taxpayers paid for the land, paid for the construction of the armory, paid for its maintenance for decades.

Previous post continued: And, it will be a major surprise, nah, shock if the mayor and city council doesn't use a gov't grant to purchase the armory then, secure another gov't grant to upgrade the facility--a cost that the National Guard was not cost-effective, but the city will gleefully spend taxpayers money. The consequence will be just like the RR/Rails to Trails saga--the taxpayer will pay for this boondoggle three times too! The majority of taxpayers, including me, typically do not have a problem when tax dollars are spent in responsible manner. However, when taxpayers are handed the bill for an obvious boondoggle project, not once but three times. The Rails to Trails is just one of many examples of wasting taxpayers' $$$. The next will be the White Elephant, AKA The Armory!
What in the Sam*****has Terry George done to make anyone think that he's good at his job? Our school system is falling/has fallen apart, and it all starts in the Superintendent's Office.
