Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin knows West Virginia roads and bridges need attention, but he and legislators are also well aware that funding for the purpose could be hard to come by....

I just received a response from the DOH commissioner this is part of the email: With respect to your question regarding guardrail, lighting and signing, we assume that you are referencing damage to these devices. The Division of Highways has an investigative claims unit which works to recover the cost of damaged DOH property from a motorist's insurance company

Republicans have some pretty big names, Chris Christi, Paul Ryan, Rand Paul, Rick Perry ,Ted Cruz, maybe Jeb Bush some others come to mind as well.

Actually I'm pretty sure it was Gov. Man chin that proposed a pay raise before he was voted to the United States Senate in 2009 Tomblin took over as "acting" governor in 2010 after the 50 percent pay raise took effect.the Governors salary went from $95,000 to $150,000 overnight. But I could be wrong

I do not support Tomblin because I've watched him over several years give himself pay raises UNDESERVING. TOO many to be acceptable. I cannot support that.

Here....I kind of agree with the guard rail thing you suggested. However, I believe the person at fault should pay through insurance for damage. But...if roads are icy, etc...you can't blame driver at fault for that.

Drunk drivers, and others who were not paying attention while driving? Sure, let them pay for guard rail. I have NO problem with someone paying for what they destroyed. However, liberals won't go for that...will they? Somehow, they don't seem to like to take "responsiblity" for own actions!

I drive through Clarksburg and Morgantown every day for work, and this winter as been extremely harsh on the roads. I'm talking pot holes a foot deep, 705 isinglass bad shape. I'd say its going to need repaved. We've got people traveling from all over the country to attend the college games especially now that we're in the Big 12. The bad thing is that the rest of the state, besides Charlston of course will be more likely to be overlooked due to lack of funding, Maybe the university has some ideas?

May be you could have the police start writing more tickets for speeders and aggressive drivers. It's getting crazy out there. Theres people doing 85-90 mph on our highways . And not a cop in sight for days. I have seen more troopers after I contacted the state police recentlywith my concerns, but more needs to be done. And cell phones, I mean come on. I see 20-30 people almost every day talking on their phones or texting while driving. Some of them are the ones driving 90 mph. Phone in one hand, drink in the other. I'm not kidding. The state police need more unmarked vehicles.

I have been trying to find out for over a year now who pays for damaged guardrails, and other state property in West Virginia. Is this covered under a drivers insurance policy? If it isn't, should it be? Or does the taxpayer pay for the damages? I have contacted Paul Maddux's office( commissioner of VDOT ), but never received a response to this particular question. I see more damaged guardrails by the day, and quite a few light poles too. And I'm not talking about the little light poles, I'm taking about the big one that you see on Interstate 79. Not to mention the huge signs that mark the exit ramps. Those things add up. If any one knows anything pleased post. Thanks

If Democrats had a 'conscience' they'd be embarassed and blushing; but they do not have a moral compass to help them know right from wrong and moral from immorality. THus; they murder their babies; have sex with same gender; bow down to godless communism; think smoking cigarettes is horrifying and want to legalize marijuana. You can't fix STUPID PEOPLE.

I see Tomblin's pretending again that there's no money for fixing our roads. This is a LIE designed to bring about Manchin's and Obama's idea of an Infrastructure Bank then you all get to pay MORE taxes to fund it.

I am quite sure that our Governor and our congress has a lot of pork spending that is completely unnecessary that could be spent on fixing our roads; but Manchin has his own agenda.....an "Infrastructure Bank" to tax WV citizens on so they can have more of your hard earned money to waste! Sure, we'll trust these corrupt politicians with a BANK full of our money. After all, didn't dems take good care of our taxes through our paychecks for social security?? Yeah right. Dems refused to allow Republicans to put a LOCK on our SS money but no; democrats under CLINTON put it all in the General Fund to be used on whatever they wanted to waste it on. OUR SS money dems spend for wasteful pork projects. Then 'pretend' to be shocked our money isn't there now. Crooks!
