Both sacrifice and greed on display

March 21, 2014

Shared sacrifice was on display during the session of the West Virginia Legislature that ended recently. But greed was there, too. As you may know, times are tough in state government....

I suggest we research the candidates very closely next election. We need a Governor who is well educated and experienced in financing. WV has got to get out of this hole and start leading the nation in something. I think we need a sharp young woman next time.

Governor Tomblin cannot 'justify' this at all. More liberal stupidity and more taxpayer-funded monies going to their friends in PRIVATE businesses to support them instead of using taxpayer monies to help the taxpayer. Not wise Governor. These liberals must go. Enough is enough. Wasting our money for your friends and yourselves; enriching both is UNACCEPTABLE.

So there you go. Some people, such as Morrisey, decided it was important to make sacrifices to balance the budget. Others, such as the horse- and dog-racing interests, did not.

Like I said, Democrats' priorities are NOT for the PEOPLE. Giving OUR tax dollars to the WEALTHY horse-&-dog racing industry over helping the 'people' shows just how thoroughly "out-of-touch" with reality and how utterly ignorant Governor TOmblin and his democrats in Charleston are. WV better vote these ignorant leaders out. They care nothing about what's truly important. But hey, if you happen to be a wealthy business person or'll make out real nice...with taxpayer dollars!

THIS IS disgusting. I'd like to ask Governor Tomblin and dems who supported that $90 million a year to this do you justify that? Oh I get it. Most of these democrats HAVE a business associated with the horse-dog racing industry in WV. Well well, using OUR money to enrich themselves. Not surprised

The state needs to stop depending on such fickle industries like tourism, racing and gambling to keep revenues where they should be. All of these are finance related industries that depend on people having enough money to waste on horse and dog racing, or at the gambling tables and lotteries. Of course revenues will drop when you have a president that knocks the props out from under the working people, leaving them will less mad money to spend traveling or gambling.

You would think they would learn from their mistakes and seek out other avenues to make money, like allowing oil and gas drilling on the 35,000 or so acres of mineral rights the state owns sitting idle, or getting tort reform and work with industries like Beretta USA to bring work to the state. Instead, we allow the attorney's to muck up the economic climate of this state through bogun lawsuits and dimwitted senators who would rather score points with Obama than look out for the people of the state he represents.
