The bride is the daughter of Barbara F. Sims and David A. Sims of Elkins, and Dorsey E. Shreve Jr. of Jane Lew. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William P. Strother and the late Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey E. Shreve.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don A. Langford of Gibsonia, Pa. He is the grandson of Leona Loke of College Station, Texas, and the late A.J. Loke, and Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Langford of Fayette, Mo.
The bride wore a strapless couture gown of ivory re-embroidered lace over pale gold silk. The intricate floral pattern of the lace was embellished with hand-sewn Swarovski beading. The gown featured a court train of illusion lace.
She wore a cathedral-length ivory veil edged in Swarovski crystals and pearls and accented with gold silk embroidery. Her diamond and pearl jewelry was given to her by the bridegroom, her mother and family friends, the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Slick. On her right hand, the bride wore the engagement ring of her great-grandmother, the late Julia Martin Shreve.
The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of queensday roses and peach Mozart callas with ivory silk ribbons. The bridal flowers were mirrored in the altar arrangement of queensday roses, peach Mozart callas and snapdragon. Flowers for the ceremony were designed by NWF Weddings of Norfolk, Va. Dr. Rachel Gragson, director of music at Monumental United Methodist Church, provided organ accompaniment for the ceremony.
After the ceremony, a dinner was given at Cafe Europa in Olde Towne, Portsmouth. The meal, prepared especially for the couple by Chef Michael Simpco, featured roast lamb and a Reine de Saba cake.

The bride, a graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College, is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in rhetoric and composition at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Grove City College and Temple University School of Medicine. He is completing his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Va., and is currently serving as a Marine battalion surgeon in Okinawa, Japan.
Following a honeymoon to Royal Plantation, Ocho Rios, the couple will reside in Japan for a year before returning to Portsmouth, Va.
