Weston Council, Lewis Commission Working Toward Change

By JOHN WICKLINE, Staff Writer
POSTED: November 17, 2007

Weston city leaders hope to have a meeting with the Lewis County Commission in the coming days as the two try to work toward a common goal.

The Weston City Council requested that the two sides sit down. No date, however, has been chosen by the county commission. The meeting would be a work session for the City Council.

“This meeting is to work toward a common goal and purpose,” a letter to the commissioners stated. “That purpose would be a progressive economic change within Lewis County and the city of Weston.”

In other matters before the County Commission, commissioners met in executive session with Sheriff Mike Gissy to discuss personnel issues.

No action was taken following the private meeting.

The commissioners also met in executive session with emergency services director Bill Rowan to discuss property issues. The commissioners requested that a letter from their attorney be sent to Gov. Joe Manchin regarding the dispute as to a right of way to the communications tower on the old Weston State Hospital property.

The commissioners also voted to give a cost-of-living adjustment of $300 to all full-time county employees and $150 to all part-time employees.
