SKSRT to Receive USDA Telecommunications Loan
POSTED: April 4, 2008
USDA Rural Development State Director Rick Rice has announced that a check presentation event will take place at 2 p.m. today at historic Circleville High School at 1 Price Way in Circleville.
Spruce Knob Seneca Rocks Telephone Inc. has been approved for a $7,789,000 telecommunications loan through USDA Rural Development’s Utilities Programs.
Rural Development Telecom loan funds will be used to install more than 200 miles of fiber optic communications facilities to homes and businesses throughout the Spruce Knob Seneca Rocks Telephone exchange area. In so doing, the company will connect 57 new subscribers, upgrade all existing electronic equipment and replace the existing switching equipment with software-based switching. These digital enhancements position the company to deliver digital voice, data and video services throughout the exchange, enabling them to accommodate communications demands envisioned for the 21st century.
Federal and state government officials, stakeholders, potential loan recipients and the affected community members are expected to join in this celebration.
