He was born March 7, 1923, at Whitmer, a son of the late Ted and Ethel Elza Tingler.
On June 13, 1941, he was married to Wilda White Tingler, who survives at Whitmer.
Also surviving are two children, Roger Lee Tingler and wife, Elisa, of Beech Grove, Ind., and Ruthaleen Charlton and husband, William, of Seneca Rocks. Four brothers, Paul Tingler of Whitmer, Lewis Tingler and wife, Thelma, of Wymer, Roy Tingler and wife, Glenna, of New Palestine, Ind., and Alonzo Tingler of Whitmer; two sisters, Geraldine Raines Day and husband, Roy, of Whitmer and Louise Collett and husband, Ed, Tennessee; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding him in death was one son, Donald Lee Tingler; and two sisters and one brother.
Hermie was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. for two years and was a school bus operator for 40 years serving Harman, Dry Fork, Bonner Mountain, Sinks of Gandy and the Harman to Elkins Vo-Tech run. In his spare time, he installed a television system in the Whitmer and Harman areas and in homes throughout the county. He was a member of Whitmer United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Tuesday, April 15, he will be moved to Whitmer United Methodist Church for visitation from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Earl Bible and the Rev. Robert Sturgeon will officiate and interment will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery near Whitmer.
