Pancake Breakfast Benefits Randolph Relay for Life

POSTED: May 7, 2008

The Randolph?County Relay for Life will host a pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s in Elkins. The event will raise funds for the American Cancer Society and its effort to eliminate cancer.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any Relay for Life team.

“This is a great fundraiser for any organization.?We hosted an Applebee’s pancake breakfast last year, and with their help, we raised $2,900. They provided the food, the facility and the cooks, and provided the wait staff. We hope that we can raise the same amount or more this year,” said Cindee Campbell, 2008 co-chairwoman of Randolph County Relay for Life.

Raising money for the American Cancer Society is a year-round effort for Randolph County Relay for Life. “We feel that cancer doesn’t rest, so why should we?” said Deanna Armentrout, 2008 chairwoman.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.

Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate the lives of those who are battling or have battled cancer. “Remember loved ones lost to the disease and fight back against a disease that take too much,” an official said.

This year’s Randolph County Relay for Life is scheduled for June 20 at the Elkins High School track, starting with the survivor dinner at 5 p.m. For more information, call Armentrout at 637-9613.
