The Buckhannon man accused of kidnapping a women early Sunday was arraigned on two more charges Wednesday. Roger Reed, 36, who was already arraigned for kidnapping, now faces charges of first-degree sexual assault and nighttime burglary.
Reed is being held without bond in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail and will appear in Upshur County Circuit on Monday for a bond hearing before Judge Thomas Keadle.
Reed was arraigned on the new charges before Upshur County Magistrate Helen Echard.
If convicted, Reed faces life in prison for kidnapping, 15 to 35 years in prison for first-degree sexual assault and one to 15 years for nighttime burglary.
Reed had taken the victim from her home at knifepoint and went to remote area of Upshur County where he allegedly again held her at knifepoint forcing her to perform sexual acts on him. He then left the area. The victim was later found walking along the road by an oil well attendant.
“Considering what she went through mentally, she is doing well,” Upshur Sheriff Virgil Miller said.
The victim knew her attacker, Miller said. Evidence found in her home and at the scene of the crime has been sent to the state crime lab in Charleston for further review, and more charges could be pending, he said.
