Local 4-H fans will have a special opportunity to support the improvement of Camp Pioneer by purchasing the Randolph County 4-H Camp Pioneer 2008 1st Edition Collector Basket.
The American Traditions Basket Co. in Canal Fulton, Ohio, makes the hard maple baskets. The 4-H chose the Friendship Basket, which features a commemorative brass tag, green and white "Cottage" weave, and green and cream checkered liner with protector.
The basket measures 11-inches-by-8.25-inches-by-5.5-inches and costs $45. It is 100 percent custom made in the United States.
The American Traditions Basket Co. has been a family-owned business for 14 years, specializing in making hand-woven, American hard maple baskets, customizing each basket order for fundraisers around the country.
"We're very excited about our 1st Edition Collector Basket," said Randy Elza of the Randolph County Recreation Board. "The baskets are beautiful and we look forward to continuing to offer a new one-of-a-kind collector basket each year."
Orders may be placed at the West Virginia University Extension Office in Elkins. Those who purchase a basket will be notified when their order can be picked up.
