Mountain Fury Performing at Lewis County High School

POSTED: August 19, 2008

Mountain Fury is set to perform at 6 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Lewis County High School auditorium. Tickets are available by calling the Weston Volunteer Fire Department at 269-2349. Reserved seats are $10, and general admission seats are $5. Tickets will also be sold at the door the evening of the show.

The ladies of Mountain Fury originated as the original Glenville State College Bluegrass Band. The program started with Elizabeth Long in the fall of 2002, and in 2003, Eileen Marsh and Rachel Singleton joined the program. The three young ladies struck up an automatic friendship and soon realized they had the ability to harmonize with each other like no other. In January of 2006, Mountain Fury was born when the idea came about by Elizabeth's sister, because all of the ladies loved to play ... and they needed the money.

Mountain Fury toured extensively in 2007 and has picked up quite a following in West Virginia and all along the East Coast. Mountain Fury consists of Rachel Singleton, a Summersville native and state mandolin champion; Long, a Lincolnton, Ga., native who adds a little comedy along with her banjo, fiddle, autoharp and guitar picking; Marsh, of Linn, who adds guitar, deep-voiced vocals and often cracks jokes at Elizabeth's expense; and Rachel's younger sister, Robin, who adds beautiful vocals that send chills down the spine.

"Mountain Fury loves what they do and loves making people smile through their music. They're great sounding bluegrass with a whole new look," a spokesperson said.
