The New Relics will bring their alternative country and rock show to Beander's on Davis Avenue in Elkins at 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

With their alternative country and Texas country sound, the band will bring great music with sounds similar to Pat Green, Jack Ingram, along with some great original music, that has put them on the nationwide charts in 2007, a spokesperson said. In West Virginia, the group has more than 6,000 fans and friends on social networking sites MySpace and Facebook. These sites keep their fans informed and helps give The New Relics a strong fan base regionally. They have hundreds of fans in the Elkins area.

Beander's is a regular stop for The New Relics. The band makes its way to Elkins about four times a year.

"The friends and the fans are the reason that we continue to do what we do," bassist Josh Swiger said. The band continues to grow its fan base nationwide.

In 2007, the band received major airplay for its single "Pictures" on radio nationwide. Thirty-plus markets across the country embraced the band as a sure-fire, up-and-coming act, and Clear Channel radio put the band in the Top 100 new artists in 2007, according to a spokesperson.

Lately, The New Relics have been on quite the move. Alternativeaddiction.com, an indie music and up-and-coming artist Web site, called the band "one of the most promising acts of 2007." Alternative Addiction sees about 200,000 visitors a month.

These are not the first major accomplishments for The New Relics. They were named the Best Unsigned Band in West Virginia by WVAQ radio a member station of West Virginia Radio Corp. In 2002, they were named Best Acoustic Act in the Pittsburgh Acoustic Challenge, and their single "Evaporating" has been featured on an episode of "A Dating Story" on The Learning Channel (TLC). Aside from these accomplishments, The New Relics have also been gaining national exposure on XM and Sirius Satellite Radio.

The band is currently in the studio working on its fifth CD, which is expected to be a collection of great alternative country with shades of rock - a mix of of the sounds of Tom Petty, Pat Green and Rascal Flatts.
