A Buckhannon man remains in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond after he was arrested Nov. 24 on two counts of third offense domestic battery, a felony.

According to records obtained from the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk's office, Robert Dwayne Williams, 28, became angry after he was awakened by his 4-year-old son and began hitting the boy. The report stated the victim had visible red marks on his back, ribs and lower back, as well as an abrasion behind his left ear.

Williams was arraigned before Upshur County Magistrate Helen Echard. If convicted, he faces one to five years in prison and a fine up to $2,500 on each count.

The incident was investigated by Trooper 1st Class D.M. Stemple of the Buckhannon detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
