Jim Jackson to Appear on Fox
By CARRA HIGGINS, Staff WriterElkins Fordland owner Jim Jackson is scheduled to garner national media attention today on Fox News as the result of a recently published letter.
Since penning the letter to the editor, which was published in the Nov. 28 edition of The Inter-Mountain, Jackson found that his open statements regarding the U.S. auto industry had been circulating through e-mails, Ford executives and other newspapers and eventually caught the eye of Fox News.
"It's gotten a lot bigger than I thought it would," Jackson said.
Jackson plans to have a five-minute live interview at 10:15 a.m. today from a Pittsburgh studio via satellite with Fox News journalist Bill Hemmer.
On Monday, Jackson said he will likely discuss the quality, fuel economy and safety of vehicles made by Ford Motor Co.; misconceptions in the media; and Congress' "attitude" toward the U.S. auto industry.
Ford Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally even had a discussion with Jackson Monday, the local dealership owner said.
"Hopefully I'll represent Ford in a way that's deserving," Jackson said of his national interview.
