Herman Eugene Watson Sr., 62, a resident of Elkins, started his eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2009.

He was born Oct. 28, 1946, at Beverly, a son of the late Silas and Edna Marie Bennett Watson.

On July 15, 1978, he was married to Irene Coberly Watson, who survives in Elkins.

Also surviving are two sons, Herman Eugene "Dean" Watson Jr. and Adam Ray Watson and fiancee, Rachel, all of Elkins; one daughter, Bridgette Irene Phillips and husband, Chuck, of Elkins; and five grandchildren, Chelsea and Hannah Watson, Jordan, Abigail and Alexis Phillips. Three sisters, Arlene Knick and husband, Kenneth, of Valley Bend, Darlene Scott and husband, William, of Dailey and Glenda Hedrick and husband, William, of Elkins also survive.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Robert "Bob" Watson and Danny Ray Watson.

Herman attended the schools of Randolph County and was a carpet installer for Classic Floor Coverings at the time of his death. He was a member of the Gospel Light Tabernacle Church and served as guitarist and song leader at the church. Herman enjoyed walking, playing music, camping, playing with his grandchildren and joking with friends and family. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. A.H. Belt officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
