West Virginia men's basketball coach Bob Huggins and women's hoop coach Mike Carey made there second annual trip to the area for Coalton Days on Saturday.

Huggins and Carey were also marshalls for the parade and were joined by Mountaineer Mascot Rebecca Durst and WVU radio commentator Jay Jacobs. They had time before the parade to mingle, sign autographs and have pictures taken with fans.

"It's always fun to have Huggins and Carey to come to Coalton," said Mike Ross. "They always seem to have fun during this event."

Carey, who grew up in West Virginia, likes coming to these kinds of events. "I really enjoy coming to these small towns and events." said Carey. "I know a lot of people around the area which helps."

Carey also talked about two players that transfered to WVU?this week. The first was former LSU cager Ayana Dunning, a 6-3 F/C, from Columbus, Ohio. She played one season at LSU. Dunning will have to sit out next year but will have three years of eligibility at WVU.

"We are excited about her coming to Morgantown," said Carey. "She is a big post player and she should help us a lot."

The other transfer is Toni Williams, a 6-1 guard from Warner Robins, Georgia. Williams will transfer from South Carolina. She will also sit out next year and will have three years remaining.

"Williams is a great shooter and will help out on the permiter," said Carey. "We are happy to get these two girls, I feel they both can help us.

"We're really looking forward to the up coming season. We have some good kids coming in and some talented players back - I feel we will be better.

"We just need to stay healthy. Last year before the season we lost a lot of players due to injury and we can't afford to go through that this year."

Huggins also mentioned he loves coming to the area and attending events like Coalton Days.

"I just really enjoy the atmosphere," said Huggins. "You get to meet a lot of new people. I also really enjoyed making the trip to the Elks Club for the MAC event."

Huggins said he recently talked with Alex Ruoff about the upcoming NBA draft. "He's not real optimistic about the draft." said Huggins. "If he dosen't get drafted I think he'll go to Europe or the NBL and have a chance to get called up."

Huggins also talked about the Mountaineers upcoming season and how he feels his team will do. "A lot of the preseason rankings have us in the top 10," said Huggins. "I think we will be pretty good this year, everyone I have talked to feels the same way."
