What will happen with health care bill is unclear
Lawrence "Cork" Potts of Moundsville has made one of the best - if most worrisome - points we have heard in regard to the debate over a national health care system. Though Potts was present at one of those events liberals claim are dominated by "un-American" behavior, his warning ought to be heeded by those on all sides of the argument.
Two representatives of U.S. Rep. Alan Mollohan, D-1st District, were in Moundsville Tuesday to meet with the congressman's constituents. As we have reported, the event was not typical of the regular sessions Mollohan's aides hold. Instead of a few people with personal concerns, the two representatives were greeted by scores of people at the Marshall County Courthouse.
Most of those in attendance wanted to ask questions and air concerns about the health care proposal.
Potts told our reporter that he had heard of angry crowds at some recent gatherings held by members of Congress. He said he attended the Tuesday event because he "figured we needed someone here with a little sense." Indeed, what Potts said made much more than "a little sense."
Potts pointed out that, "You can't make up your mind about the (health care) bill when you don't even know what's in it." He is absolutely correct.
Though hundreds of pages of health care legislation have been written, discussed in Congress and sometimes amended, no one knows what the final version of the bill will contain. Once members of Congress return to Washington, it is probable that the bill will be amended before it comes up for votes in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
U.S. Rep. Zack Space, D-Ohio, made the same point as Potts, though in a different way. Space was among "blue dog" Democrats who argued in favor of changes to the bill. He said last week that while he supports the measure in its current form, he will change that position if amendments insisted upon by the "blue dogs" are taken out of the final version.
In other words, Space, like Potts, is concerned with rewriting of the bill that may occur in September. Changes made then may improve the measure - or they may make it more unacceptable.
We understand the concerns voiced by many area residents in regard to language they believe is in the bill now - and provisions in the original measure that have been changed. Still, as Potts pointed out and Space acknowledged indirectly, we don't really know what will happen in a few weeks. It is that, not concerns about the bill's current language, that should be of utmost concern.

continued...1000 page laws are ridiculous. You must remember your senators are Democrats and will not make much noise against Obama. That is where your voices count. EVERY ONE needs to sit down and write those three persons. This is not a joke. We cannot afford these changes. We cannot afford to destroy Medicare as we know it. Let them know that they stand NO chance of being re-elected in the next election. Other senators who support this madness are losing support fast. Pennsylvania’s flip flop senator’s ratings have gone from plus 11 to minus 12 in just a few short weeks. Hey, Jay baby—hope you enjoy unemployment. (as if he needs a job)

Well as much as I can't stand his totally socialized, commie ideas, he is NOT stupid. He is following a plan by a certain element of our nation that wants to take over as much of society as they can and as fast as they can. If they can do that before we wake up, they will have succeeded. But something happened. After the country didn’t complain much about the TARP money, the takeover of the largest insurance company in the nation, the takeover of the former largest company in the world (GM) with its little brother Chrysler, the takeover of our total health care was too much. None of those other things affect everyone. But destroying our health insurance companies is HUGE. So what does Obama do? He is sending union thugs out to the town hall meetings. This is the time for every West Virginian to take action. Write your two very liberal senators, write you congressperson and demand that any changes have to give the people a chance to learn all there is to know about the changes.

The bill should be thrown through the shredder and forgot about. Regardless of what Obama tried to project, scant few want universal healthcare. We have the best healthcare system in the world, but unfortunately a few are too stupid to realize it. Obama is self-destructing just like I said he would. Rasmussen was on the news last night saying that Obama's approval rating was just under 32%, the lowest presidential rating ever. Obama is an idiot, he doesn't have enough common sense to realize that the healthcare issue is destroying his presidency. How much more of this idiot is American willing to tolerate? But you should hear the Democrats spin this. They actually think his spindly support is something to be proud of. "Look at Obama, he has 32% support on his healthcare." Yeah idiots, but the other 68% doesn't want anything to do with it. Duh!
