Elkins youth football teams open season

TENNERTON - John Huffman had 90 yards receiving and a touchdown to lead the Elkins midgets past Buckhannon White 25-12 Sunday in American Youth Football action.

Cole Harlan was 1-of-1 passing for 64 yards and a touchdown and added 27 yards on the ground and a score for the Bengals. Chris Bodkin was 5-of-7 though the air for 46 yards and had a rushing touchdown.

Anthony Hayden added 30 yards and a score for Elkins.

Harlan and Chase Corcoran had eight tackles each to lead the Elkins defense. Hayden, Jarrette Zopp and Alex Taylor added seven tackles each for the Bengals.

Kole Hopwood chipped in with six tackles and had a fumble recovery for Elkins.

Elkins (1-0) will host Lewis County Saturday at 7 p.m.

Fairmont 14, Elkins 0

WESTON - The Elkins Black pee wee football team lost to F.O.P Fairmont 14-0 on Saturday.

Luke Petrice had 40 yards rushing for Elkins.

Garrett Smyton, Mason Kelly and Tyler Monk had four tackles for the Bengals. Brice Mandolidis and Read Schumacher had fumble recovers for Elkins.

Elkins will host Barbour County at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Buckhannon 27, Elkins 0

TENNERTON - The Elkins Orange pee wee team lost to Buckhannon White 27-0 on Saturday.

Adam Riggleman was 2-of-3 passing for 20 yards, while Jacob Cooper added two catches for 20 yards for the Bengals.

Joseph Schmidlen and Jacob Cooper each had seven tackles, while Russell Shifflet, Beau Bright, Dalton Taylor, Jeremy Cogar and Chris Harlan each had four tackles apiece for Elkins.

Shifflet added a fumble recovery for the Bengals.

Elkins will host Lewis County at 5 p.m. on Saturday
