Fall Quilt Retreat slated for Sept. 23-26

POSTED: September 5, 2009

The Fall Quilt Retreat at Camp Horseshoe will be Sept. 23-26. According to organizers, it is the perfect place to spend quality time with your sewing machine and quilting friends.

"Come enjoy Horseshoe's relaxed atmosphere, take advantage of this time to start a new project or catch up on those projects you have started and just haven't found time to complete," an organizer said.

"Quilters will have a choice of projects: A beautiful piece called Magic Stack & Wack, instructed by Karin Rodeheaver of Bayard; Mystery Quilt and Sewing Bag will be taught by Ann Kessel of Shepherdstown; Sweatshirt Jacket will be demonstrated by Marie Sines of Oakland, Md., also Nadine Baughman of Swanton, Md., will show us how to make a neat Stash-It Container; Helen Edmunds of Tunnelton will teach how to make a Victorian toy called a Whimsie Ball," said Mary Smith, coordinator of the program for Camp Horseshoe.

YMCA Camp Horseshoe is located near Leadmine in Tucker County's Monongahela National Forest. Horseshoe's mountain setting, hiking trails and home cooked food will add to this special weekend.

For more information, e-mail Mary@hi-y.org or call Camp Horseshoe at 304-478-2481.
