The New Relics, Saving Jane featured at Fall Fest

POSTED: September 17, 2009

Davis & Elkins College's first Fall Fest will be Saturday at 9 p.m. featuring regional favorite The New Relics and Columbus, Ohio-based rock band Saving Jane.

The event will take place at the Augusta Dance Pavilion behind the Hermanson Campus Center.

Influenced by the sounds of Pat Green, Jack Ingram, John Mellencamp and Keith Urban, The New Relics deliver a sound that is more than country music.

"It's a journey about great songs - music that makes you smile, laugh, reflect and believe in something more than yourself," a spokesperson said. "Country music is more than hats and boots. It's taking care of your family and living life to the fullest through good times and bad. Country, rock, Americana, bluegrass have all been used to describe the band. All are valid comparisons, but not one can describe the band."

With good years of touring under their belt, meeting more friends and fans, The New Relics are just beginning.

Saving Jane of Columbus, Ohio, is most famous for their hit song "Girl Next Door." Band members include Marti Dodson, Pat Buzzard, Dak Goodman, Brandon Hagan and Eric Flores.

Saving Jane's popularity has grown because fans love the lyrics and the vocals.

Their album "Girl Next Door" was released in October 2005. After major radio play of the single with the same name, Universal picked them up. The album was re-released with two new tracks in April 2006.

The single "Girl Next Door" has received much radio play, having peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The video for "Girl Next Door" debuted on MTV's TRL Top 10 Countdown on April 24, 2006, at No. 9.

All ages are welcome at the event but no one younger than 16 will be permitted without a parent. Tickets for the event are free for students, faculty and staff of Davis & Elkins College and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased through Music Today at www.dne.musictoday.com/DavisElkinsCollege/calendar.aspx or by calling 800-594-TIXX (8499).
