Davis & Elkins used a late goal to edge rival Alderson-Broaddus 1-0 Wednesday afternoon in West Virginia Conference play at Harpertown Field.

Megan Beal scored the game winner off an assist from Luci Legaspi with six minutes left in regulation.

Jackie Krum had two keeper saves in goal for the Lady Senators (5-1, 3-0 WVIAC).

Davis & Elkins outshot the Lady Battlers 6-3 in the contest.

"This was a great conference win for our program," said Davis & Elkins coach Raul Ovalle. "The girls really worked hard and never quit fighting. Alderson-Broaddus has come along way from last year and will be a good team down the stretch."

Alderson-Broaddus (3-2-1) will host West Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Davis & Elkins entertains Pitt-Johnstown the same afternoon at 2 p.m.

Prep Volleyball

Lady Colts Win Pair: The Philip Barbour volleyball team posted a pair of wins at the Charleston Civic Center on Wednesday.

The Lady Colts defeated Capital in two games (26-24, 25-12) in their first match as Sarah MaCauley led the way with 19 assists.

Jazzmine Boyd added seven kills and four blocks, while Ashley Durnal tallied 11 digs and five kills for Philip Barbour (7-5-2) .

Brooke DePoy chipped in with 10 points and Lauren Rogers had six for the Lady Colts. Victoria Shomo finished with four kills.

Philip Barbour also won its second match in two games, defeating Ravenswood 25-10, 25-19.

Durnal had nine digs and seven kills in the Capital victory. McCauley finished with 21 assists, while Boyd collected seven kills and two blocks.

Shomo tallied five kills and three blocks for the Lady Colts, while Rogers had 15 points and DePoy 10.

Philip Barbour will host a tri-match next Tuesday against Bridgeport and Lincoln.

Prep Soccer

EHS 2, B-U 0 (JV)

Maddie Basil and Amber Karlen had goals to lead Elkins past Buckhannon-Upshur 2-0 Wednesday night in junior varsity action at EHS.

Brianna Swecker added an assists for the Lady Tigers.

Danielle Broschart had seven keeper saves in goal for Elkins.
