Four West Virginia Wesleyan College alumni will become official board of trustee members during the groups fall meeting Oct. 18-19.

The newest members will be Phyllis Friddle Cole, class of 1967; Gary Frantz, class of 1975; John Shimrak, class of 1967; and Dennis Slagle, class of 1976.

Cole, who lives in Petersburg, has worked as a consultant for city and county governments and was an assistant to former West Virginia Gov. Cecil H. Underwood, where she served as the governor's liaison to the state Legislature. She was the former chair and member of the board of governors for Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College and is the current leader of the Corridor H Coalition.

Active in fundraising for a number of nonprofit and political organizations, she is married to Jim Cole (class of 1964) and they are the parents of two children, Holly and Jennifer (class of 1998).

Frantz is a partner with Burstin, Burstin & Frantz, an insurance firm in Pittsburgh, Pa. He formerly served on the Wesleyan National President's Advisory Council. Frantz and his wife, Jane, have two children, Garvin and Susan.

The former vice president and controller for the Campbell's soup company, Campbell's North America, is also a CPA and was an audit manager for Price Waterhouse & Co. Like Frantz, he also served on Wesleyan's National President's Advisory Council. Shimrak and his wife, Deniece Dubois (class of 1967) currently reside in Berwyn, Pa. They are the parents of two grown children.

Slagle is president and chief executive officer of Mack Trucks Inc., a subsidiary of Volvo International. He has served the company since 2003 as president and CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment North America in Asheville, N.C. He joined the company in 2000 as senior vice president of sales. Slagle has more than 27 years experience in the construction equipment industry. He and his wife, Karen, currently reside in Greensboro, N.C. They are the parents of three children.
