Nelda Marlene White Kisner, 63, a resident of Elkins, departed this life early Saturday morning, Oct. 17, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health for the past five years and death was attributed to heart failure and pneumonia.
She was born Thursday, Dec. 13, 1945, at Hendricks, a daughter of the late Forrest White and Alice Collett Helmick White.
Surviving are one daughter, Marlene White Arbogast and husband, Sherman, of Beverly, with whom Nelda had made her home; one son, Roger Kisner of Beverly, one sister, Pamela McSpadden Peters and husband, Bob, of Beverly; five brothers, Harold White of Elkins, Roger White and wife, Nancy, of Beverly, Scottie White of Dailey, Kennie White of Kingsport, Tenn., and Denny White and wife, Debbie, of New Castle, Va.; one stepbrother, June Helmick of Bretz; nine grandchildren, Dominic, Anthony, Brayden, Briella, Brynnlee, Dusty, Morgan Arbogast and Destiny and Dakota Kisner, all of which she spent time with daily and have unique ways of remembering their grandma.
Preceding her in death were five brothers, Bob, Forrest, William, Carl, James and Howard White; one sister, Margaret Roby; and one stepbrother, Ralph Helmick.
She attended the Hamrick School at Hendricks, was a homemaker, had worked at different home health agencies and took care of several individuals in the Randolph County area before becoming disabled. She never met a stranger. She enjoyed riding through parades waving at all the people and listening to Eloise Mann sing on the Sunday Show, but her real passion were her grandchildren, whom she especially enjoyed spending her Sundays with and taking turns riding them around on her lap in her wheelchair. She was known as a sweet lady that lived life to the fullest enjoying every minute.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jack Howell will officiate and interment will follow in the Collett Cemetery at Hendricks.
