Students from Highland Adventist School in Elkins recently spent half of a school day serving others. Cleanup along the Allegheny Highlands Trail was the job assigned to students in grades K-5 with middle school students serving as leaders to help each team of K-5 trash collectors. A team of high school boys assisted a homeowner in Elkins with an exterior house painting job she had been trying to get completed for some time. High school girls assisted with yard work at the WAIC office in Elkins, while the remaining student work teams cleaned up and organized around the school. "We work to instill in our students the concept that we each have a responsibility to do whatever we can to bless and serve others," Principal Cheryl Jacko said. "As a Christian school, we believe that helping others is a major part of our mission." Above, students in grades K-8 prepare to clean up along the Allegheny Highlands bike trail.
