PCA sponsoring ‘Paws for the Cause’
The West Virginia affiliate of the Pancreatic Cancer Action will sponsor "Paws for the Cause," a dog walk, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alderson-Broaddus College soccer field in Philippi. The cost will be $10 per dog and each dog will receive a goody bag.
There will be several activities for dogs and dog owners, including a costume contest for both. In addition, there will be a doggie dance contest and an opportunity to bob for wieners.
All attendees are invited to stay for the last home game of the season of the A-B Lady soccer team at 1 p.m. against Mansfield University. In addition, the Lady Battler volleyball team will play in the Memorial Coliseum at 1 p.m. as they participate in "Spike for the Cure" for breast cancer.
Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United States, and "Paws for the Cause" is the kick-off for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month in November. At least 210 West Virginians will be diagnosed with the disease in 2009 alone.
