Belington Civic Center Work Day is Saturday
The Belington Board of Parks has set this Saturday as Civic Center Clean Up Day.
With so much renovation and improvement taking place at the facility and youth basketball about to begin, the 80-year-old structure is in need of cleaning, painting and other needed repairs.
The building, which served as the gymnasium for Belington High School for many years, along with an annex structure which served as a cannery, a shop and Vo-Ag classroom and of late as the Belington Headstart, is now undergoing major renovation.
The work day will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and will continue into the early afternoon. Volunteers of all ages are invited to take part in this communitywide effort. Lots of painting, cleaning and mowing will be sure to create an appetite. All volunteers will be treated to a free lunch. Girl and Boy Scouts, 4-H'ers, civic groups and private individuals are encouraged to join the fun. Volunteers are encouraged to wear old and comfortable clothing.
The Civic Center is located at Howard and Serpell, on the hill behind the Belington Volunteer Fire Department.
