Aquila Theatre production coming to Wesleyan

POSTED: November 9, 2009

The Aquila Theatre Company will present the thrilling new production of the Henrik Ibsen classic, "An Enemy of the People," at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Buckhannon. The theater troupe will perform the production in the Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts located on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

"An Enemy of the People" is an exciting drama that explores the impact of severe eco-issues on a small town and the consequences to one man of uncovering the truth. After making a shocking discovery about the town's spa, a trusted physician must convince the townspeople that the major source of local income is toxic. This gripping tale shows how one man can take on city hall to save lives.

Aquila presents a regular season of plays in New York, at international festivals, and tours to about 70 American towns and cities each year. Aquila also provides access to excellent theater for people in under-served rural and inner city communities.

"An Enemy of the People" is produced as an entirely green production with the smallest possible carbon footprint, the total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2).

Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for students and free with Wesleyan ID. For more information or ticket information, call 304-473-8104.

The $7.2 million Virginia Thomas Law Center for the Performing Arts constructed by High Point Construction Group LLC of Buckhannon was the winner of the West Virginia Chapter of Associated Buildings and Contractors Inc.'s Eagle Award for excellence in construction.
