Light of Christ Chapel in Belington, with the help of Belington American Legion Post 96 and Woodmen of the World, recently dedicated two new flagpoles and flags at the church.

Woodmen of the World donated both flagpoles and the American flag, and the church provided the Christian flag.

American Legion Post 96 conducted the official flag-raising ceremony for the American flag. Gary Price, local Woodmen of the World spokesman, briefly explained some of the history of the Woodmen of the World and its commitment to recognizing the sacrifices of the men and women of the armed forces.

Pastor Jim Tallman provided a history of the Christian flag and led the pledge to the Christian flag. Cassie Hymes, accompanied by David Shaffer, sang "America the Beautiful" as part of the dedication ceremony.

Tallman expressed his appreciation to the Woodmen of the World and the American Legion for providing the recognition of men and women who have given their lives to preserve America's freedom to worship freely and live in a free country.
