Wilfong opens sealed indictments

Randolph County Circuit Judge Jaymie Godwin Wilfong opened three of the four sealed indictments Tuesday that were issued by a grand jury in October; however, authorities have apprehended none of the accused. Arraignments were also conducted for several other individuals indicted by the same grand jury.

Joel B. Schoonover, 49, of Elkins, Bryan K. Reese, 41, of Elkins, and Norman R. Kessner, 32, of Clarksburg, were named in separate sealed indictments charging them all with drunken driving related charges. Capias arrest warrants have been issued for each of the men.

Schoonover is accused of one count of third offense driving while license revoked for driving under the influence, a felony, along with first offense DUI of alcohol, no proof of insurance and a registration violation, all misdemeanors.

Reese is accused of two counts of third or subsequent offense of DUI of alcohol, both felonies, along with one count each of second offense driving revoked for DUI and failure to yield, both misdemeanors.

Kessner is accused of one count of fleeing while driving under the influence, a felony, and one count of driving under the influence with bodily injury, a misdemeanor.

According to Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Richard T. Busch, the fourth sealed indictment would not be opened until it can be served to the defendant. He said the accused is believed to be living in California, but may return to Randolph County.

William Patrick Stump, 55, of Slatyfork, appeared with attorney George Triplett and pleaded innocent to one count each of burglary and wanton endangerment involving a firearm, both felonies, and one misdemeanor count of brandishing a deadly weapon.

According to the indictment, Stump broke into and entered a house owned by Robert M. Darling on Dec. 16, 2008, pointed a gun in Darling's face and threatened to kill him. Stump remains free on a $150,000 bond.

Brandy Sue Arbogast, 20, of Monterville, appeared with attorney Michael Parker and pleaded innocent to a two-count indictment charging her with malicious assault, a felony, and carrying a deadly weapon without license or other authorization, a misdemeanor.

According to the indictment, Arbogast caused bodily injury to Nancy Roberts with the intent to maim, disfigure, disable or kill her. Arbogast remains free on a $20,000 bond.

Timothy Ray Shuman, 61, of 237 Diamond St., Elkins, appeared with attorney Tim Prentice and pleaded innocent to one count of failure to register or provide notice of registration changes, a felony. According to the indictment, Shuman was convicted of a sexual offense on Oct. 9, 1990, and required life registration as a sex offender and did not provide a change in information to the West Virginia State Police. Shuman remains free on a $20,000 bond.

Lucas Wayne Buchannon, 27, of 865 Dennison Run, Alum Bridge, appeared with Parker and pleaded innocent to a two-count indictment charging him with forgery and uttering, both felonies. According to the indictment, Buchannon forged a $1,500 check with the signature of Donald Stout payable to Josh Masters. Buchannon remains free on bond.

Ashley Bonner, 25, and Rusty Travis Cameron, 20, both of 55 Vine St., Elkins, appeared separately and both pleaded innocent to their roles in a seven-count indictment.

Attorney Ty Nestor is representing Bonner and Parker is representing Cameron.

According to the indictments, Cameron is charged with five felony counts of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury for allegedly burning three children on the lower back with a lit cigarette. Bonner was charged with two felony counts of child neglect resulting in serious bodily injury for allegedly not seeking medical attention for two of the children after they were burned. Both remain free on bond.

Steven M. Clemens, 24, of Elkins, and Bobbie Jo McVey, 33, of Fairmont, appeared separately for their roles in an indictment accusing them of drug distribution crimes.

Clemens appeared with Parker and pleaded innocent to two felony counts of possession with the intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance. According to the indictment, Clemens possessed and delivered marijuana on Nov. 15, 2008.

McVey appeared with attorney James Hawkins Jr. and pleaded innocent to two counts of possession with intent to deliver and delivery of a controlled substance. According to the indictment, McVey possessed and intended to deliver Hydrocodone on Nov. 15, 2008. McVey and Clemens both remain free on bond.

Charles J. Iamurri, 46, of 400 Abbey Road, Belington, appeared with attorney Dwight Hall and pleaded innocent to one count each of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and transportation of a dangerous substance onto the grounds of a correctional facility, both felonies, and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, domestic battery and possession by a prohibited person of a firearm.

According to counts one and two of the indictment, on April 25, 2009, Iamurri possessed more than 15 grams of marijuana with the intent to deliver and morphine that was not obtained by a prescription.

According to count three of the indictment, on the same date Iamurri allegedly choked and caused bruising to the throat of Peggy Rankins. According to count four of the indictment, Iamurri transported approximately 20 grams of marijuana to the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. According to count five of the indictment, Iamurri possessed a shotgun and was prohibited to do so because of a felony burglary convection on Feb. 17, 1987, in Coatsville, Pa. Iamurri remains incarcerated at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.

Joe Loudin, 36, of Buckhannon, appeared with attorney Earl Maxwell and pleaded innocent to one count of obtaining property in return for a worthless check, a felony.

According to the indictment, Loudin issued a $12,852.17 check to Elkins Fordland drawn on Loudin Construction's account while knowing there were not sufficient funds in the account. Loudin remains free on a $25,000 bond.

Kevin C. Parks, 25, of 17 Heavener Acres, Elkins, appeared with Nestor and pleaded innocent to one count of burglary, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor. According to the indictment, on June 15, Parks broke into the home of Leslie Kittle and Ryan Sherman and took $300. Parks remains free on bond.

Darren Boggs of 1530 North Adams St., South Bend, Ind., failed to appear for arraignment on one count of obtaining property in return for a worthless check, a felony. According to the indictment, Boggs wrote a $926.44 check to Glotfelty Tire Center while knowing that there were not sufficient funds on deposit. A capias was issued for his arrest.
