Marie W. Cooper Moore, 94, of Beverly, entered into eternal rest Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
She was born Sunday, Dec. 20, 1914, at Laurel Mountain, Randolph County, a daughter of the late John Grafton and Maude Thomas Cooper.
On Wednesday, Feb. 28, 1945, she married Robert David Moore, who preceded her in death on Thursday Oct. 23, 1969.
She attended the one-room Clay Lick School at Laurel Mountain and Elkins High School. She was assistant manager for the G.C. Murphy Co. for 12 1/2 years until moving to Akron, Ohio, where she was a resident for 36 years. She retired from the Kroger Co. in Akron, Ohio, with 26 years of service.
In 1986, she returned to Elkins where she enjoyed being a loving grandmother to her grandsons and great-grandchildren.
Marie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only son; Robert "Bob" Cooper; two sisters, Rita Cooper and Velma Corley; brother-in-law, Paul "Red" Corley; two brothers, Warder and William Cooper; and several nieces and nephews.
Marie's survivors include her daughter-in-law, Sue Cooper of Beverly, with whom she made her home; two grandsons, Kelly D. Cooper and wife, Erin, and Kevin Cooper, all of Beverly; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ciara and Braden Cooper, all of Beverly, and Katelin, Nathan and Nicholas Cooper, all of Elkins; special niece, Wilma Leombruno and husband; six nephews, Charles Corley and wife, Delsie, Paul Cooper, Roscoe Cooper and wife, Curtis Cooper and wife, Jeff Cooper and Lawrence Amstoker; and niece, Evette Lacer.
Visitation will be Sunday Nov. 22, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Terry Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins.
