Police release name of woman found in burned truck
By CARRA HIGGINS, Staff WriterThe body discovered in a burned truck Nov. 12 along Little Black Fork has been positively identified as that of Pamela K. Judy, 39, of Elkins. The Randolph County Sheriff's Department received official word of the identification from the state Medical Examiner's Office at approximately noon Monday, Deputy J.A. Burns told The Inter-Mountain.
Dental records were used to confirm Judy's identity, Burns said. However, the cause of death has not been determined and the incident continues to be treated as a homicide until evidence proves otherwise, he added.
Burns said Judy owned the Chevrolet Colorado truck where her body was found. The West Virginia Fire Marshal's Office is working to determine the cause of the fire. Items from the truck have also been sent to the State Police Crime Lab, Burns said.
Police do not have suspects for their homicide investigation, however, they are continuing to conduct interviews.
According to the West Virginia Secretary of State's Office Web site, Judy was the co-owner of a freelance court reporting company.
After hearing that Judy's name had officially been released by the Randolph County Sheriff's Department Monday afternoon, a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous commented, "Something so terrible had to happen to a seemingly very nice and very quiet neighbor."
