Matthew "Matt" Ryan Cross, 17, of Lumberport, passed away suddenly as a result of a car accident on Nolan's Run Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009.

Matt was born on June 1, 1992, a son of father, Emmett Franklin Cross, stepmother, Peggy Ellen, mother, Peggy Jo Ball Stout, and stepfather, Gary.

In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his sisters, Christina Miller of West Milford, Jamie Miller of West Milford, Heather Miller of Bridgeport, Reonna Stout of Lumberport and Christy Kerns of Junior; brothers, Jeff Higgins of Elkins and Christopher Stout of Nolan's Run, Lumberport, who was his best friend; grandparents, Edwin and Wilda Cross of Elkins and Ellen and Gary Stout of Nolan's Run, Lumberport; nieces and nephews, Dylan and Jasmine Lowe of West Milford, Michael Joseph Hyde III of West Milford, Laytin Sandy of Bridgeport and Emily Shriver of Lumberport; one nephew on the way, Matthew Robert Hyde; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Matthew in death were grandparents, Ralph and Francis Ball.

Matt was a senior at Lincoln High School and loved basketball, football, riding his four-wheeler, playing Playstation 3 and music. He had lots of friends who he spent his time with.

Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home in Shinnston from noon to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Darren Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Simpson Church Cemetery.
