The Parsons Christmas Parade will march through the downtown streets on Dec. 12 beginning at 6 p.m. This year's theme will be "Christmas Memories," in honor of former Mayor Bill Rosenau who always enjoyed the celebration. People or groups who would like to participate in the parade can call the Parsons City Hall at 304-478-2311.

In Barbour County, the Philippi Main Street Committee will begin the holiday season on Friday with a variety of activities. A parade is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the lineup at Subway. Following the parade, children can visit with Santa at the Barbour County Courthouse gazebo.

"Several events are scheduled to kick off the holiday season," Main Street Director Tammy Stemple said. "The main event is our annual Christmas Parade."

The annual holiday craft show, sponsored by the Philip Barbour High School band, will also be Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the basement of the Philippi City Building. The craft show will feature more than 30 vendors with a variety of items for sale.
