Bernard L. Cross

Bernard Lee Cross, 70, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Saturday evening, Nov. 28, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.

He was born Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1939, at Hendricks, a son of the late Luke and Liza Katherine Wilfong Cross.

He was twice married. First during 1964, he was married to the former Jean Marie Drum, who survives, and second on June 7, 1971, at Oakland, Md., he was married to Ramona Nestor, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are three brothers, Ronald Cross of Elkins, Delmar Cross and wife, Eleanor, of Ohio and Kenneth Cross and wife, Susan, of North Carolina; two sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Elkins and Twila Carr and husband, Alvie, of Montrose; four stepchildren, Lela Bohon and husband, Ray, of Moore, Jerry Nestor and wife, Lottie, of Parsons, Bernettie Nestor of Norton and Matthew Nestor and wife, Phyllis, of St. George; eight stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; one special cousin, Richard "Dickie" Wilfong of Harman; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were one brother, James Cross; and two stepsons, Larry and Gary Nestor.

He attended the schools of Randolph County. He was a truck driver for 20 years. He was an avid outdoorsman. He operated the Norton Flea Market.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday, Dec. 3, at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Stephen W. Pyle will officiate and interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Clover Run.
