EHS?swim team earns wins over Preston, Notre Dame
Staff ReportsThe Elkins High School swim team won a tri-match against Preston and Notre Dame Tuesday at Davis & Elkins College.
Elkins defeated Preston 202-73 and completed the sweep with a 192-92 victory over Notre Dame.
Robert Hall (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke) and Conner Gill (50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) had two first place finishes each to lead the Tigers in the boys race.
Aaron Tenney (200 freestyle) and Bobby Channell (100 freestyle) also earned top honors for Elkins.
The Tigers' 200-yard medley relay team (Hall, Gill, Channell, James White) and 400 freestyle relay team (Hall, Channell, Tenney, Gill) also placed first.
Delaney Johnson (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) and Sarah Schmidt (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke) captured two first place finishes each to lead the Elkins girls squad.
CeCe Stalnaker (200 freestyle) also earned a first place trophy for the Lady Tigers.
The Elkins girls also won three relay events by taking top honors in the 200 medley relay (Christa Varner, Tenney DeMarco, Schmidt, Johnson), 200 freestyle relay (Varner, Stalnaker, Schmidt, Johnson) and 400 freestyle relay (Cassie Wallace, Elizabeth Proudfoot, Stalnaker, DeMarco).
Elkins will return to action Saturday at the Rotary Meet in Clarksburg.
