Ashley Lynn Skidmore and Matthew Thomas Ryan were married on Aug. 29 at the First Baptist Church in Elkins. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Marvin Parley.
The bride is the daughter of David and Karen Skidmore of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of Lonis and Alice Shiflett of Elkins and David and Janet Skidmore of Elkins.
The bridegroom is the son of Sandy and Tom Ryan Jr. of Bunker Hill and Brenda and Larry Smoot of Bunker Hill. He is the grandson of Patricia Ryan of Belington and the late Tom Ryan Sr. and Louise Cross of Belington and the late Bernard Cross.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted to the altar by her father. She wore a satin trumpet gown with beaded metallic lace, satin empire band with bow and lace-up back featuring a chapel train. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of peach roses, white calla lilies and eucalyptus.
Serving as matron of honor was Brooke Erin Shields, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Jessica Banks, friend of the bride, Jennifer Ryan, sister of the bridegroom, and Amber Currence, longtime friend of the bride. The bride's attendants wore latte, satin strapless ball gowns with pickup detailing on the skirt and a champagne sash at the waist. They also carried hand-tied bouquets of peach roses.
Junior bridesmaid was Hali Newlon, friend of the bride, and flowergirl was Lindsay Blake, friend of the bridegroom. They both wore spaghetti strap satin gowns with a champagne overskirt. The gowns featured pleated waistlines and beaded lace at the neck.
Serving as best man was Ricky Himes, friend of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Joey Bolyard, friend of the bridegroom, Jeremy Foy, friend of the bridegroom, and Travis Ryan, cousin of the bridegroom.
Barb Teter served as the wedding photographer. The flowers for the ceremony were done by Tammy's Floral and Bridal Gallery of Elkins.
Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted at Orchard Hall in Elkins. Catering was provided by Sharon Cooper and her staff. Disc jockey Chuck Alth and his wife, Michelle, provided music during the reception. The five-tier wedding cake was made by Tiffany Henderson, friend of the bride.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of Elkins High School and a 2008 graduate of Fairmont State University with an associate's degree in applied science with a focus in physical therapy. She is employed by Elkins Physical Therapy Services, David Lee where she works as a physical therapist assistant.
The bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of Musselman High School. He is employed by Ryan's Auto Repair in Belington. He also works for the Barbour County Board of Education as a substitute bus driver and is a volunteer firefighter for Belington Fire Department.
Following a honeymoon trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple resides in Belington with their son, Gunner Matthew Ryan.
