More than 400 members and friends of the West Virginia Farm Bureau gathered on Nov. 6-8 at the Days Hotel in Flatwoods to conduct their 90th annual meeting. Among those attending were Randolph County Farm Bureau members Amber Kwasniewski, Haley and Chiron Wing, Hannah Sundberg, Donna Teter, Johnny Bee, James D. Dean, Portia Dean, Pam Kwasniewski, Herb Kwasniewski, Tyler Villers and Sen. Clark Barnes, R-15th District.
The most important activity conducted during the annual meeting was the reaffirmation, deletion and addition of new policies by the voting delegates.
The policies adopted by WVFB delegates originate at the grassroots level and define the organization's position on a variety of issues including taxes, highways and public issues.
Elections for state leadership positions took place on the last day of the meeting. The voting delegates chose Charles Wilfong to serve as president and Denzil Huff to serve as vice president.
Regions 2, 4, 6 and 8 also had the task of choosing directors to serve on the board for the next two years.
Elected from Region 2 were Matt Harper and George Leatherman; from Region 4, Bill Ingram and Mike Merinar; from Region 6, Ralph Blair and Alvin Engelke; and from Region 8, Frank Nash, Charles Wilfong and Joe Clay.
The Women's Committee voting delegates selected JoEllen Blair from Wood County as chairwoman of the WVFB Women's Leadership Committee. Corey Lambert from Taylor County will serve as chairman of the WVFB Young Farmer Committee. In addition, both will serve on the WVFB board of directors.
During the meeting, the Randolph County Farm Bureau was recognized for achieving 2009 Membership Quota.
