Wesleyan introduces sustainable energy, going green online program

The Office of Extended Learning at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon recently announced the launch of a new Online Career Training Program Department - Sustainable Energy and Going Green.

Wesleyan, in partnership with Gatlin Education Services (GES), now have a number of new "green" programs, which will empower students to advance or embark on new careers in the in-demand field of sustainable and green energy. Wesleyan's online programs are designed by a team of professionals from each respective field, who work to provide the most effective web-based learning experience available.

The following "Sustainable Energy and Going Green" online courses are now available for immediate enrollment at www.gatlineducation.com/wesleyan/index.htm.

Senior Certified Sustainability Professional

This program is designed to prepare students to become leaders in the green collar economy. The certification exam is included at no additional cost.

Contact hours: 110

Price: $2,495

Certified Green Supply Chain Professional

Students will learn to create sustainability programs and apply "lean and green" manufacturing strategies. This program also includes the certification exam at no additional cost.

Contact hours: 60

Price: $1,595

Certified Indoor Air Quality Manager (CIAQM)

This program is perfect for facility managers, building engineers, and health and safety officers who want to improve the indoor air quality (IAQ) of buildings.

Contact hours: 16

Price: $795

Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE)

This program teaches all the practical steps needed in order to make indoor environmental assessments, including how to take samples and how to resolve common IAQ problems.

Building Analyst Quick Start: BPI BA Certification

This unique bundle of two very popular programs, Principles of Green Buildings and Performing Comprehensive Building Assessments, will prepare students to move into a new career in the ever growing green building field.

Additional courses that will become available in October include:

Wind Energy Apprentice

Through three courses - Basic Electrical Theory, Hydraulics and Pneumatics and Wind Energy Principles, students will develop an understanding of the fundamental principles of wind energy technology.

Price: $2,195 (Students who pre-register will receive a $100 discount on enrollment for this course)

Biofuel Production Operations

Over the next few decades, many advances will be made in the field of biofuel, and hundreds of new facilities will be built for production of this type of fuel, leading to many new biofuel-production jobs.

Natural Gas Plant Operations

There is a growing demand for natural gas plant operators who work in gas-producing establishments. This program provides the fundamental technical background for students who want to enter this field.
