Paul E. Armstrong, 78, of Adolph Road, Mill Creek, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at his residence surrounded by family.

He was born Sunday, May 31, 1931, at Elkins, a son of the late Doyle and Georgia Currence Armstrong.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, 1955, he married Opal Fincham, who preceded him in death on Tuesday, March 29, 2005.

Paul attended the schools of Randolph County.

He was employed as a foreman for R.H. Armstrong, Inc.- West Virginia Paving in Parsons, for more than 50 years.

He loved to play guitar.

He was very proud of being a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Lavonda Channell and husband, Floyd; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy Armstrong and wife, Eloise; and one granddaughter, Carla Hively.

Paul will be sadly missed by his daughters, Paula "Ginger" Wooddell of Elkins, Judith "Cookie" Collins of Wilmington, N.C., Sherry Mauzy of Davis, Joyce Hofemann of Austin, Texas, Robin Armstrong of Dailey and Tina Taylor of Mill Creek; one son, Paul "Sparky" Armstrong Jr. of Mill Creek; two sisters, Mary Fincham and husband, Jack, of Mill Creek and Yvonne Valentine and husband, "Speed," of Elkins; and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In memory of Paul E. Armstrong, memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice Care, 169 Diamond St., Elkins, W.Va. 26241.

Visitation was Sunday at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Valley Bend.

Funeral services with full military honors accorded by American Legion Post 29, Elkins, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3647, Elkins, and the West Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard will be at noon today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
