Fairmont Senior downs EHS; Pocahontas boys, girls post wins

Ty Garrison fired in game-high 26 points to lead Fairmont Senior past Elkins 75-63 Saturday in North Central Athletic Conference action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
Andrew Marra followed with 17 points and Ryan Sevier hit for 12 for the Polar Bears (7-0, 2-0 NCAC).
Rusty Harsh finished with 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Tigers (5-2, 3-1), who led 40-37 at halftime.
Zack Watson followed with 14 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, while Nick Hammond and Titus Smith had nine points each for the Tigers.
Elkins will host Lewis County tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Pocahontas County 63,
Tygarts Valley 40
DUNMORE - Jerry Simonin and Jimmy Wiley had 20 points each to lead Pocahontas County past Tygarts Valley 63-40 Saturday in Potomac Valley Conference action.
Tanner Graham followed with 12 points, while Dylan Kelly chipped in with five for the Warriors (6-0).
Pocahontas County led 34-24 at halftime and 46-35 after three quarters.
Jeremy Lambert had 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs (0-5).
Christian Scott followed with 10 points, while Brandon Pritt added nine for Tygarts Valley.
The Bulldogs will visit Highland County today, while Pocahontas County travels to Greenbrier West.

Pocahontas County 73,
Pendleton County 29
DUNMORE - Heather Snead had 15 points to lead Pocahontas County past Pendleton County 73-29 Saturday in Potomac Valley Conference action.
Chloe Bland followed with 14 points, while Lyndsey Barlow and Shelby Snead had nine each for the Lady Warriors (5-2).
Jesse Kimble finished with nine points, while Ginger Beatty chipped in with six for the Lady Wildcats (4-6).
Pocahontas County will play in the Pitt Row Classic tonight in Summers County.
Pendleton County will host Moorefield Thursday for a PVC matchup.
Petersburg 50,
Keyser 46
KEYSER - Alisha Webster and Jalyn Cooper had 13 points apiece to lead Petersburg past Keyser 50-46 on Saturday.
Webster also pulled down eight rebounds for the Lady Vikings (10-0), who led 24-20 at halftime and 34-25 after three quarters.
Megan Whetzel added 11 points, while Devon Brosh chipped in with five points and dished out six assists for Petersburg.
Julia Ludwick had 14 points and Brooke Mangold added 10 points for Keyser.
Petersburg will host Pendleton County Thursday.

Swimming
PARKERSBURG - The Elkins High School girls swim team placed fourth at the Penguin Invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers were led by Delaney Johnson's two second place finishes (50-yard Freestyle, 26.11 and 100-yard freestyle, 57.11).
Elkins also placed second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:08.72 That team consists of CeCe Stalnaker, Christa Varner, Sarah Schmidt and Johnson.
The Lady Tigers placed third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:05.80 (Christa Varner, Tenny DeMarco, Johnson and Sarah Schmidt).
Connor Gill placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.54 to lead the Elkins boys to a seventh place finish. Gill also placed fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Tigers' 400-yard freestyle relay placed third with a time of 4:00.76 (Robert Hall, Bobby Channell, Gill and James White).
Elkins will host Bridgeport on Tuesday.
