Preston too much for EHS; Tucker remains unbeaten

T.J. Thompson scored a game-high 26 points to lead Preston past Elkins 70-61 Saturday in NCAC action at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

Cody Thompson followed with 17 points for the Knights who led 30-21 at halftime.

Rusty Harsh fired in 19 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Nic Hammond added 13 points for Elkins (6-4, 3-2).

Alex Gaaserud followed with 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Tigers.

Elkins will travel to University on Wednesday.

Tucker County 66, Pocahontas County 47

DUNMORE?- Ethan Slaubaugh and Josh Poling had 19 points apiece to lead Tucker County past Pocahontas County 66-47 Saturday in PVC action.

Poling pulled also had grabbed 14 rebounds for the Mountain Lions (8-0).

Jimmy Wiley tossed in 17 points to lead the Warriors (7-2).

Pocahontas County will travel to Harman tonight, while

Tucker County entertains Petersburg.

Girls Basketball

Pocahontas County 59, East Hardy 48

BAKER - Shelby Snead had 18 points to lead Pocahontas County past East Hardy 59-48?Saturday in PVC action.

Miranda McNabb followed with 15 points for the Lady Warriors.

Lyndsey Barlow recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for Pocahontas County (7-4).

Lindsey Basye had team-high 17 points, while Morgan Mongold hit for 12 for the Lady Cougars (3-7).

Pocahontas County will host Tucker County tonight.

Preston 51, Elkins 48

KINGWOOD?- Michelle Groves tossed in 31 points to lead Preston past Elkins 51-48 Friday in NCAC action.

Mackenzie Martin followed with 10 points for the Lady Knights .

Morgan Johnson scored 18 points, while Jordan Isnehart followed with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals for the Lady Tigers (6-6).

Elkins will travel to Bridgeport on Tuesday.

Tygarts Valley 63, Moorefield 53

MILL?CREEK?- Nikki Cutright had 19 points to lead Tygarts Valley past Moorefield 63-53 Saturday in PVC action.

Jesse Fox followed with 14 points, while Shelby McCauley added 10 points for Tygarts Valley (7-3).

Victoria Wright tossed in 21 points to lead Moorefield.

Tygarts Valley will host Highland County tonight.

Petersburg 32,

Webster County 26

UPPER?GLADE?- Jalyn Cooper had 12 points to lead Petersburg past Webster County 32-26 Saturday in non-conference action.

Alisha Webster followed with 10 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Lady Vikings (11-0).

Alica Lantz finished with 12 points to lead Webster County.

Petersburg will host Frankfort on Tuesday.

High School Swimming

BUCKHANNON?- The Elkins High School girls swim team placed third at the Splash Invitational on?Saturday.

Delaney Johnson had two first place finishes for the Lady Tigers.

Johnson won the 50-yard freestyle (25:69) and 100-yard freestyle (56:82).

The Lady Tigers also captured the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:0474 that team includes Christa Varner, CeCe Stalnaker, Sarah Schmidt and Johnson.

Courtney Miller placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.42 to lead Buckahnnon-Upshur to a fourth place finish.

Tim Squires won two events to lead the Bucs to a third place finish.

Squires placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (20.98) and 100-yard freestyle (46.88).

The Tigers were led by Conor Gill's fifth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

Elkins will host a home meet on?Tuesday.

Mens College Basketball

Pitt Johnstown 92,

Wesleyan 80

JOHNSTOWN?Pa. - Jordan Miller had 20 points to lead Pitt-Johnstown past Wesleyan 92-80 Saturday in West Virginia Conference play.

Danny Branch followed with 17 points (8-7), for the Mountain Lions.

Neven Zeravica tossed in 22 points to lead the Bobcats (2-13).

Wesleyan will travel to Davis & Elkins on Thursday.

for a West Virginia Conference matchup.
